Old Crow 3 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the 1990s, in a one-litre bottle at 40% ABV. The brand traces its roots to Dr James C. Crow, a pioneer of sour mash fermentation, and this bourbon is distilled at the Jim Beam facility. Its mashbill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley.
The nose is soft, with muted vanilla and oak, light apple juice, white peppercorn and honey. The palate brings caramel and vanilla, mild grain, a chalky texture and hints of chilli and hay. The finish is short to medium, with vanilla, nuts and a sweet herbal fade.
