This is a straight bourbon from Old Elk, built on the distillery's Signature High-Malt Bourbon, which has a minimum age of five years. It is then finished for around ten months to a year in 59-gallon oak casks from Portugal that held port.
The finish earned a Gold Medal at the Beverage Testing Institute in 2021. It is bottled at 54.05% ABV, or 108.1 proof.
The tasting notes run to honey, orchid, apples and oak, with deep, ripe fruit on the palate, and a touch of smoke in the finish.
