Old Elk – Wheated Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 50%)

Old Elk Wheated Bourbon is a Colorado bourbon in a 750ml bottle, aged for a minimum of 5 years. The mashbill is 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley, a recipe that raises the wheat and keeps the corn at the minimum. After it leaves the barrel at cask strength, the bourbon is brought down to bottling strength with Colorado mountain water. The water goes in over several weeks rather than a couple of days, which keeps the liquid cool and protects the lighter flavours. The nose is toffee, vanilla ice cream, caramel and floral notes. On the palate come cream, toffee, vanilla, toasted almonds and clove.
