Old Fitzgerald 1849 is an eight-year-old wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, produced at the original Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, Kentucky, before Heaven Hill acquired the brand and revived it under its own production.
Pappy Van Winkle built Stitzel-Weller in 1935, after Prohibition ended, and it stayed under Van Winkle family ownership until 1972. Besides Old Fitzgerald, it produced W.L. Weller, Rebel Yell and Cabin Still, all wheated bourbons made from the same wheated mashbill. The distillery closed in 1992.
