Old Fitzgerald 7 Year Old is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill, bottled in bond at 100 proof (50%) in a decanter-style 70cl bottle. The mashbill is 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, with wheat taking the place of the rye found in most bourbons. Bottled-in-Bond status means a single distilling season and at least four years in a bonded warehouse.
The nose shows caramelised brown sugar, toasted oak and baking spices, with dried fruit beneath. The palate is buttery, with vanilla, toffee, honey, nutmeg, cinnamon and toasted almonds, and a thick, coating texture. The finish is long and warming, with oak spice, caramel and a touch of leather.
