Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 9 Year Old Spring 2020 is a wheated Kentucky bourbon from Heaven Hill's Bernheim Distillery, bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl decanter. It is the fifth release in the Old Fitzgerald decanter series. The barrels were filled in March 2011 and the bourbon was bottled in March 2020, after nine years in new charred American oak.
Wheat takes the place of rye as the secondary grain in the mash bill.
It is typically described as having rich oak and caramel on the nose, with a hint of fruit and a baked-apple sweetness. The palate is sweet caramel, buttery chocolate, butterscotch and fruit syrups, and the long, warming finish brings caramel, vanilla, cocoa and dried fruit.
