Old Grand-Dad 7 Year is a bottled-in-bond Kentucky straight bourbon, aged for seven years and bottled at 50% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made at the Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky.
The mashbill is rye-forward, at 63% corn, 27% rye and 10% malted barley. The spirit is distilled at a lower still proof and goes into the barrel at around 115 to 120 proof.
The nose brings peanut brittle, vanilla bean, toasted oak and cinnamon. The palate is full-bodied, with rye spice, burnt sugar, baked orange and buttery toffee, and the finish is long and warming, with peppery heat and dry, slightly tannic oak.
