Old Louisville 8 Year is a barrel-proof Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 62.4% in a 750ml bottle after eight years in new charred American oak.
It is a wheated bourbon, with a mashbill of 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley, so wheat takes the place of the rye found in most bourbon recipes. It was bottled without being reduced in strength. Old Louisville Whiskey Co. is based in Louisville, Kentucky.
The nose is caramel and toasted marshmallow with almond, dark cherry and black pepper. The palate is rich, with dark honey, butterscotch and stewed red fruit, and the finish is long and warming, with caramel, dried fruit and a little char.
