Old Pulteney Harbour (70cl, 40%)

Old Pulteney Harbour is a Highland single malt from the Pulteney Distillery in Wick, matured in four types of hand-picked American ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The name recalls Wick harbour, where around 2,000 herring boats landed their catch each day at the height of the herring fishing. The whisky is creamy and fruity, with fresh oak spice and a salty sea note. The nose opens with creamy vanilla and coconut, followed by marmalade, lemon cake and fresh oak. On the palate, raisins and tropical fruit turn to warm toffee and tobacco leaf, round and warming. The finish is long and maritime, leaving a salty note.
