OMAR Sherry Oak is a single malt whisky from the Nantou Distillery in Taiwan, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery was set up in 2008 by Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation, and it uses malted barley brought in from Scotland. Every stage is done on site, from milling to maturation in cask.
The colour is a bronze like a sunset. The nose opens with floral notes and a trace of sulphur, then ripe banana, soda crackers and preserved plum, with jam, sandalwood and dark chocolate beneath. The palate is thick and sweet with a little smoke, like caramel toast, and the finish is long, ending in dried fruit and orange cake.
