Cask Type
Gravino fortified wine cask
This is a triple grain whiskey from the Erongo Mountain Winery in Namibia. Part of its maturation takes place in casks that previously held Gravino, a Namibian fortified wine in the style of port. One of the three grains is mahangu, the pearl millet native to Namibia, which is malted and dried over a fire of dried elephant dung. This gives a smokiness that differs from peat smoke. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and uncoloured. The nose brings sweet, spicy smoke and incense, with toffee, almonds, berry jam and fresh orange zest. On the palate are ripe cherries, red grapes and plums, pipe smoke, charred sandalwood and oiled oak, with figs and mandarins later. The finish is long, with gentle spice and sweet smoke.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
