Fanged Pursuit is a 17 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon in the Diageo-owned Orphan Barrel series, which releases forgotten barrels of aged whiskey. It comes from an undisclosed Kentucky distillery and is bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It is the first North American Orphan Barrel release to be non-chill filtered. The mashbill is high in rye, at roughly 68 to 74% corn, 18 to 22% rye and 8 to 10% malted barley.
The nose offers deep oak, butterscotch, vanilla, baking spice and dried fruit. On the palate there is maraschino cherry, toasted caramel, peanut brittle and dark chocolate, with rye spice and a little crème brûlée. The finish is medium-long and warming.
