Oxford Rye The Tawny Pipe 2017 Harvest #009 Cask Strength (70cl, 56%)

A single cask rye from the Oxford Artisan Distillery in England, made from heritage grains: rye, wheat and malted barley grown on organic farms within 50 miles of Oxford. The spirit from the 2017 harvest was matured first in fresh American oak, then finished in a vintage Port barrique. It is bottled at a cask strength of 56%, without chill-filtration, in an edition of 587 bottles. The nose brings grapefruit, raspberry, banana split and vanilla, with fennel and hazelnut. On the palate come crème brûlée, raisins, cinnamon and plum. The finish is long, with black pepper, fresh mint and a note of mango chutney.
