Paul John – 2015-2021 6 Year Old Berry Bros & Rudd Single Cask 6414 (70cl, 58.9%)

This is a single barrel of heavily peated Indian single malt from Paul John, distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2021 by Berry Bros & Rudd in a 70cl bottle. It is the first Indian single malt the independent bottler has released. Cask 6414 matured for the full six years in India before being bottled in Scotland. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.9%, without colouring or chill filtration. Peat smoke and vanilla lead the nose, with underripe mango and a little banana appearing over time. The palate opens with powerful peat smoke, then shows marmalade, baking spice and buttery shortbread.
