Paul John – Nirvana (70cl, 40%)

Paul John Nirvana is an unpeated Indian single malt from Goa, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was introduced in 2019. It is made from Indian six-row barley and matured in charred American oak casks. Goa's warm, humid climate speeds up the exchange between whisky and cask, which shapes the maturation. The whisky has no added flavourings or colouring. The nose combines honeyed bourbon notes with juicy fruit cake and a light hint of caramel pudding. On the palate the honey is soft, like honeycomb, set against barley with a slightly salty edge. The finish is very long and aromatic, with melting honey sweetness, barley and full vanilla.
