Pearse Lyons Original is an Irish blend of malt and grain whiskey, aged for at least five years. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
Maturation uses ex-bourbon casks from the sister distillery Town Branch in Lexington, Kentucky, together with stout casks. The stout casks add a subtle smoke note that contrasts with the sweetness of the bourbon wood and the fresh citrus. The malt in the blend was made on Pearse Lyons' own stills.
The nose offers citrus, vanilla, a hint of smoke, soft malt and honeyed fruit. The palate is soft, with spearmint, light oak spice, semi-sweet chocolate, creamy vanilla and caramel. The finish is fresh and soft, with gentle spice.
