Peerless Barrel Proof Rye is a Kentucky straight rye from Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company in Henderson, bottled at 54.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is not chill-filtered, which gives it a fuller texture.
The nose opens with fresh oak, banana and corn, then vanilla, rye, pine and anise. The palate begins sweet, with brown sugar and vanilla, before rye spice, oak, pepper and a touch of peach arrive. The finish is slightly dry and tannic, with corn, oak, leather and a little smoke.
