Peerless Barrel Proof Straight Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. in Louisville, bottled at 53.8% in a 750ml bottle. It is never chill-filtered.
The distillery uses a sweet mash, starting every batch with fresh grain, yeast and water. The mashbill holds at least 51% rye alongside corn and malted barley, and the spirit is aged in new charred American oak barrels.
The nose is led by ripe apple, with baking spice, rye bread crust and honey. The palate is sweet and grain-forward, with apple juice and honey, then rye spice, herbs, brown sugar and maple. The finish is medium to long, with corn sweetness, charred oak, leather and vanilla.
