Peerless High Rye is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 110.6 proof. It is the first Peerless release to use a wholly new mash bill since Peerless Bourbon and Peerless Rye.
The mash bill carries a higher share of rye than earlier Peerless bourbons, which brings a sweet and spicy character.
The nose is savoury, with warm seasoned oak, leather and citrus, then cedar, dark fruit and sweet grasses. The palate has candied oak, toasted sugar and charred orange, with a thick mouthfeel. The finish sets sweet and earthy notes against each other, with leather and tobacco.
