Peerless – Toasted Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (75cl, 54.5%)

Peerless Toasted Rye is a Kentucky straight rye in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 109 proof. It is aged in two separate oak barrels. The first is a standard char level 3 barrel, which brings caramel, brown sugar and toffee. The whiskey then moves into a medium-toasted barrel to finish, adding honey, vanilla, toasted spices and chocolate. The toasted barrels are hand-selected for the finishing stage, and the medium toast was chosen for its lower tannins and stronger vanilla character. The nose is butterscotch and crème brûlée with warm baking spices. The palate has sweet corn and dark fruit with hints of smoke, followed by a satisfying finish.
