Peerless – Toasted Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 54.7%)

Peerless Toasted is a Kentucky straight bourbon matured in two stages. It spends five years in a standard char level 3 barrel, then moves to a toasted barrel to finish. It is bottled at 109.4 proof (54.7% ABV). The first barrel is described as giving caramel, brown sugar and toffee, while the toasted barrel adds honey, vanilla, toasted spice and chocolate. A medium toast was chosen for its lower tannin, for a more aromatic whiskey with strong vanilla. It is typically described as rich oak, orchard fruit and cinnamon on the nose, caramel, light nuttiness and pepper on a creamy palate, and a long finish of grain and barrel.
