Peerless Toasted Rye (75cl, 53.5%)

Peerless Toasted Rye is a barrel-proof Kentucky rye whiskey, bottled at 53.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made grain to bottle at Kentucky Peerless Distilling in Louisville, starting from the distillery's sweet mash rye. After its first maturation, the whiskey moves into a second barrel that has been medium-toasted but not charred, a choice made to bring in fewer harsh tannins. It is bottled without chill filtration or dilution. The nose offers caramel, dark chocolate, coffee and custard, with cinnamon and nutmeg appearing later. The palate is honeyed and rye-led, with caramelised orange, buttercream and clove. The finish is long and silky, with toasted oak, raisin and vanilla.
