Penderyn Dragon Legend is a Welsh single malt from the Dragon range, named for the red dragon on the national flag. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill filtered.
The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks and given a final rest in Oloroso sherry casks, which makes it darker and smokier than the usual Penderyn style.
The nose is rich, with dried fruit, red berries, dark chocolate, toasted oak, subtle smoke, leather and gingerbread. On the palate come black cherry, cinnamon, treacle and cracked pepper over a lush sherried core. The finish is long, with smoky spiced fruit and a little tannin.
