This is the Headliner, number 9 in Penderyn's Icons of Wales series, bottled at 46%. It is a Welsh single malt finished in Jamaica rum and ruby port casks.
The Headliner honours David Lloyd George (1863-1945), the only Welshman to become British prime minister. His Immature Spirits Act of 1915 required whisky to mature in cask for at least three years and a day.
Tasting notes mention red berries, strawberries and cream on the nose, then dried fruit, salted caramel, honey and black pepper on the palate. The finish moves from sweet to dry and fruity.
