Penderyn – Peated, Gold Series (70cl, 46%)

Penderyn Peated is a Welsh single malt from the Gold Series, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle without chill-filtration. The spirit is distilled in Penderyn's Faraday copper stills, matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in casks that previously held peated Scotch whisky. That finish gives the malt its smoky character. The nose is sweet, aromatic smoke with vanilla, green apple, citrus and a mineral, maritime edge. On the palate come sweet malt, honey and vanilla, with peat smoke, a little tropical fruit and spice. The finish is long and warming, with smoke, sea salt, caramel and toasted oak.
