Penderyn – Portwood, Gold Series (70cl, 46%)

Penderyn Portwood is a Welsh single malt from the Gold Series, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled in the distillery's own Faraday copper stills. The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in port wine casks from Portugal's Douro Valley. The nose offers dark berries, vanilla, sultanas and honey. On the palate come port-influenced sweetness, dark cherries and raisins, with almonds, creamy toffee and a hint of dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, spice and sweet oak.
