Penderyn – Portwood Gold Welsh Whisky (70cl, 46%)

Penderyn Portwood is a Welsh single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered. It was matured first in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in port wine casks, which give it a deep ruby colour. It belongs to Penderyn's Gold range, and the spirit is distilled in the distillery's Faraday copper still. The nose has ripe berries, candied cherries and fig jam over vanilla, cream and soft oak. The palate brings red currant, plum, marzipan and dark chocolate, with nutmeg and sweet malt. The finish is lingering, with berry compote, toasted almond and dry spice.
