Penderyn The Headliner is the ninth release in the Icons of Wales series, a Welsh single malt bottled in 2022 at 46% ABV without chill filtration. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The spirit is distilled in Penderyn's Faraday copper pot still and first matured in ex-bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace Distillery. It is then finished in STR red wine casks, which have been shaved, toasted and re-charred.
The nose has vanilla, caramel and honey, with red fruits, cinnamon and light oak. The palate is creamy, with tropical fruits, toffee, dark chocolate and dried fruits, plus warming spice and a touch of ginger. The finish is long, with oak, vanilla and a trace of red wine fading to dryness.
