Penfolds Grange 2018 is a South Australian red blended from 97% Shiraz and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. It reflects the house's multi-vineyard, multi-district approach, with fruit drawn from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley. The wine spent 18 months in new American oak hogsheads. Grange has been made in an unbroken line of vintages since 1951 and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. The 2018 growing season began early after good winter rainfall and warm spring weather. Barossa Valley then had a dry summer with 22 days above 35°C, and McLaren Vale had 17.
