A 2023 Barbera d'Alba DOC from Piero Benevelli, bright ruby in colour. It shows ripe red fruit, cherry and plum, followed by light floral notes and sweet spice. On the palate it is fresh and direct, with lively acidity, soft well-integrated tannins and a medium body. The drinking is smooth, savoury and balanced, with a pleasant persistence recalling fruit and a slight bitter note on the finish. It suits ragu pasta, grilled meats that are not too structured, cured meats and semi-hard cheeses, and is best served slightly cool.
