Pinhook Tiz Rye Time 7 Year is the fourth annual release in the Pinhook Rye Vertical Series, named for a thoroughbred colt. The rye was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It was aged for seven years in new charred oak at Castle and Key in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Sean Josephs blended it from 28 barrels and bottled it non chill filtered at 105.12 proof (52.56%).
The nose is bright with caramel, orange zest, cedar and clove, with baking spice and a hint of honey. The palate is powerful, with chocolate, root beer, cardamom and tobacco.
