Plantation Terravera Fiji 2004 Rum (70cl, 50.3%)

A Fijian rum from the 2004 vintage, bottled at 50.3% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It is a 19-year-old limited edition, with 17 years of tropical ageing and two years of continental ageing, limited to 18 casks. Made from molasses and distilled in a column still after four to five days of fermentation, it aged 17 years in American bourbon casks and two years in Ferrand casks. The nose has coffee, vanilla, caramel, peach, orange peel, banana, cooked pear, walnut and cocoa. The palate is oily and lively, with quince, citrus peel, coconut and cinnamon, plus balsamic notes. The finish is very long, with smoky molasses, cocoa, almond, cherry, apple and clove.
