Plantation Trinidad 1997 Single Cask Rum Kilchoman Finish XO (70cl, 45.2%)

A Trinidad rum distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2019, finished in a Kilchoman cask. It is bottled at 45.2% vol. in a 70cl bottle. Plantation single cask rums are double-aged, first in the tropics in bourbon casks and then at Château de Bonbonnet in France in Ferrand casks, before a further ageing in selected casks. The nose is smoky, peaty and earthy, with lemon zest, butterscotch and nougat. The palate is rich, complex and fruity, with cooked pears, peaches, star fruit, nutmeg, vanilla, macchiato and malted wheat. The finish is long, with liquorice, pepper and tropical fruits.
