Port Askaig 8 Years Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 45.8% ABV. It is a blend of single malts matured in bourbon barrels, toasted American oak casks, sherry butts, refill hogsheads and American oak casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose is charcoal smoke, lemon oil and pine. On the palate, smoke contrasts with citrus, alongside heather honey, grilled grapefruit and sweet ginger biscuits, then dark chocolate that softens until melon and ham come forward. The finish is long and warming, with chilli-like spice at the end.
