Port Askaig Cask Strength (59.4%)

Port Askaig Cask Strength is an Islay single malt bottled at 59.4% ABV. Its distillery is not named. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The whisky was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and in refill American oak hogsheads. Each batch is vatted from no more than 60 casks, so every release gives a slightly different reading of Islay. Speciality Drinks is responsible for the bottling. The nose combines wildflower meadows, fresh grass and bright citrus with a growing bonfire smoke. On the palate there is dark chocolate, salted caramel and vanilla, and the finish is salty, smouldering ash.
