Port Askaig Oloroso Sherry Cask is an Islay single malt bottled at 50.5%. It comes from a small batch of 20 Oloroso sherry casks, all sourced from the Spanish cooperage Jose y Miguel Martin, and balances peat with sherry.
The nose is smoked plum jam and peppery seared steak, lifted by navel orange and liquorice. The palate grows steadily more intense, with coal smoke, cherries coated in dark chocolate and roasted barbecue meat. The finish brings cocoa nibs, dried mint and a lingering hint of boozy berries.
