Port Charlotte 2003 14 Year Old Skene Reserve (60.4%)

This is a 14 year old single cask Port Charlotte, the heavily peated Islay malt made at Bruichladdich. It was distilled in July 2003, matured in a single ex-Bordeaux wine cask and bottled in November 2017 by Skene Whisky at 60.4% ABV. The release was limited to 90 bottles. The wine cask adds fruit to the smoky style of the distillery. The nose offers white oak, ripe plum, cherry and a beachside barbecue. The palate is powerful, with juicy dark fruits, wood smoke, nut oil and subtle spice. The finish is long, dry and intensely smoky, with peppery warmth and a coastal edge.
