Port Charlotte PC6 Cuairt-Beatha is a peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich. It is six years old, bottled at 61.6% ABV, with a peat level of 40ppm and a Madeira cask influence.
The colour is sorrel chestnut to polished hazel. The nose opens on malt, peat and young spirit, with green apple, mild mint, clove, bay leaf and forest greenwood. Water brings meadowsweet, iris and honeysuckle, followed by bracken, smoke and vanilla, while the Madeira casks add syrupy dates and raisins.
The palate is hot and smoky, with spindrift and sweet citrus. Trickle distillation gives the spirit its texture.
