Port Charlotte SC:01 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, the fifth release in its cask experiment series. The barley was grown on Islay within 10 miles of the distillery and peated to 40ppm, and the spirit was distilled in 2012. At nine years old, it was first matured in a mix of sherry butts and bourbon barrels, then re-casked into Sauternes casks, which gives the SC in its name. The flavours include barbecue smoke, ripe peaches, dried apricot, candied pineapple and honeydew melon, with heather honey, vanilla fudge, marzipan and chocolate-covered orange peel. Earthy peat, polished leather and charred citrus complete the picture.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
