R. Jelinek 15 Year Family Reserve is a triple-distilled Czech plum brandy from the Rudolf Jelínek distillery, founded in 1894 in Vizovice, Moravia. Hand-selected ripe plums are distilled in traditional copper pot stills, then matured for 15 years in Limousin and local oak barrels. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose shows dried prune and vanilla, with toasted almonds, caramelised sugar and old oak. On the palate ripe plum and honey come first, followed by dark chocolate, cigar box and baking spices, with a smooth, oily texture. The finish is long and warming, with toasted almond and dried stone fruit, and a light tannic dryness from the oak.
