Red Spot is a 15 year old single pot still Irish whiskey, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The name comes from the Mitchell family of Dublin, who marked casks of different ages with a spot of coloured paint.
The whiskey matured for over 15 years in a combination of American bourbon casks, Spanish sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala wine casks.
The nose combines pot still spice with cooked fruit, baked apple, mango and black cherry, with hazelnut, a touch of new leather and toasted American oak. The palate has ripe fruit sweetness from the Marsala casks, then red and black pepper, American oak and barley. The finish is very long, with fruit and spice.
