Redbreast 12 Year Old is an Irish single pot still whiskey from the Midleton Distillery, bottled at 40% ABV. It is distilled from a mix of malted and unmalted barley in copper pot stills, three times in the Irish tradition.
It matures for at least 12 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon casks add vanilla and woody notes, while the sherry casks bring fruit and a deep, sweet undertone.
The nose is ripe berries, dried fruit and sherry, with honey, nuts, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate has raisins, apricot and cherries against oak, and the finish is long and warming.
