This is Redbreast 15 Year Old, a single pot still Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered.
It is described as unusually textural and full-bodied for an Irish whiskey, with an oily, pithy palate and oak that adds a balancing grip. The oils carry the aftertaste for a long time. Adding water is said to open it up further, bringing out fruit on both nose and palate.
The nose is spicy, creamy and fresh together. On the palate come dark chocolate, vanilla wafer and toasted marshmallow, turning more cocoa-like towards the finish. With water, fig and orange oils appear.
