This is Redbreast 21 year old, a triple distilled single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton distillery. It was bottled in 2016 at 46% ABV and has a gold colour.
The nose is fruit-led: golden syrup over passion fruit, ripe pineapple and melon, with brown sugar, sultanas stewed in calvados and a touch of white pepper. The palate brings preserved lemons, lime oil, fruit syrups and oatmeal flapjack, with flinty minerality, green tea and lychee. The finish is long and slightly earthy, with citrus fruit, lemon peel, olive oil, a touch of soot and barley water.
