Redbreast 21 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey made at Midleton from malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled in copper stills. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, is not chill-filtered and contains added colour.
It matured for at least 21 years in American bourbon barrels and first-fill Spanish Oloroso sherry butts, and some of the whiskeys chosen by Master Blender Billy Leighton are up to 25 years old. The bottling was introduced in 2013.
The nose is fresh tropical fruit, nuts and dried fruit. The palate has soft vanilla, toasted oak and nutty sherry, with a silky texture. The finish is very long, with oak, spice, barley and dried fruit.
