Colonel Armstrong is a wheated bourbon from Redwood Empire in Sonoma County, California, and the distillery's first expression built around wheat rather than rye. The four-grain recipe has a 30% wheat mash bill. It blends the distillery's own California distillate with bourbons of 4 to 14 years old from Kentucky and Indiana, all aged in Northern California's cool coastal climate, and is bottled at 47% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It is named after Colonel James Armstrong, who in the 1870s preserved the land that became Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. It joined the range in June 2026 as a permanent release.
The palate is described as ripe stone fruit, honeyed grain and vanilla, with a hint of strawberry jam and gentle baking spice, followed by a smooth oak finish.
