Emerald Giant is a rye whiskey from Redwood Empire Distilling in Sonoma County, California, named after one of the tallest and fastest-growing redwood trees. It is a blend of rye whiskeys from several states, including Indiana and California distillate.
The mash bill is about 92% rye, 5% malted barley and 3% wheat. The barrels are new charred American oak, and the blend draws on whiskey aged roughly four to seven years. It is bottled at 45% ABV.
The nose is bright, with rye spice, mint, dill, citrus peel and brown sugar. On the palate there is cinnamon, ginger, caramel, honey and orange peel.
