Redwood Empire Lost Monarch Cask Strength is an American whisky that blends straight bourbon with straight rye. It is bottled without dilution at 58.6% ABV (117.2 proof), in a 75cl bottle. At this strength the syrupy sweetness of the bourbon is intensified, while the peppery spice of the rye comes through the heavy oak. The nose is intense, with dark caramel, toasted pecans, barrel char and dark fruit. The palate is thick and full-bodied, with toffee and vanilla cream followed by black pepper and cinnamon. The finish is very long and warming, with dark chocolate and sweet wood.
