A rye whiskey from Hammer & Son, distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2022 after seven years in virgin oak. This is a single cask bottling, Cask #3, at a cask strength of 59% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It was bottled without chill filtration.
The nose offers caramelised oak, baking spices, vanilla pods, candied orange peel and toasted rye bread. The palate is bold and viscous, with rye spice, black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, balanced by caramel, butterscotch and vanilla custard. The long finish brings lingering spice, dry oak tannins and a peppery warmth, then dried fruit and leather.
