Rest & Be Thankful Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2009 12 Year Old (59.4%)

This is a single cask Bruichladdich from Islay, one of five single casks in the first collection from Rest & Be Thankful. The whisky was distilled in September 2009 and filled into an ex-wine hogshead, where it matured for 12 years on the island. It was bottled in August 2022 at a full cask strength of 59.4%, in a release of just 257 bottles. The nose is rich and sweet, with muscat-style grape, raisins, fruit jelly and plum syrup. The palate brings brown sugar, soft caramel and a note of dark chocolate, with a faint herbal bitterness late on. The finish is long and still spicy, blending into earthy sweetness and leafy notes.
